Special Tax Project
|
To Our Community, In our post 9/11 complex world, with no volunteers and only three firefighters, public safety is at risk when a second call comes in – either medical or fire. The single person left at the station cannot do anything but call for help, hopefully available, neighboring fire districts. We need to increase the fire tax for the first time since 1980 for one additional firefighter per shift. The Russian River Fire Protection District is in the process of bringing to you a proposal to increase our special tax rate. We hope to bring this proposal to you in the form of a "tax measure" to you to vote on in May of 2008. We need your input now, all of you: Residents, Voters, Property Owners, Business Owners, Renters and all Interested Persons. We ask that you try to attend our monthly Board meetings which are held the Wednesday following the second Tuesday of each month. Here is a listing of the Board meeting nights for the rest of the fiscal year. December 12, 2007; January 9th, 2008; February 13th, 2008; March 12th, 2008; April 9th, 2008; May 14th, 2008; and June 11, 2008. Please keep in mind that all regular Board meetings begin at 7pm. Your Opinion Counts. Please go to the Contacts area of this site and contact either Fire Chief Sean Grinnell or Executive Administrative Assistant Debbie Miller for questions or comments. |
